The new year got off to a bad start when it was revealed that KEV SPENCE's pre-Christmas injury is more serious than first thought. The Scotsman sustained a bad knee injury courtesy of a nasty challenge in the Cup match against Chelsea, and missed the league game against the same opponents the following week.

Despite resting up over the yuletide period, last years leading scorer did not feel the injury was getting any better. And so the club whisked him out for urgent consultation with leading sports injury expert Dr Hans Wolfhart in Germany. The conclusion was not good, and the prognosis was that the knee will require a further two months of rest before Spence can resume training. This is disasterous news for Logica, who will badly miss a key player during such a vital period of the season.
