The last game of a monumental season. A Cup semi-final at Wormwood Scrubs against the team who finished second to Logica in the league. The venue seemed to hold little inspiration for a weakened Logica side meeting early on a rainy Sunday morning. The season seemed to have taken its toll, and as the game began Logica looked a pale shadow of the side that had ripped through the second divi- sion that season. In fact the game finally showed perhaps why Logica had done so well this season: the ability of their two forwards to score goals when the team was not playing well, 's organisation at the back and the superb goalkeeping of . However on this day, Logica's ~ reluctance to train betrayed a lack of fitness that finally caused their downfall.

It was no surprise when Holland Park took the lead. A sharp run and cross led to a forward scoring from close range. Quite out of the blue Logica equalised. broke clear amid claims for offside; instinctively saw the finish and called for to lob, which the latter executed perfectly. Still against the run of play scored a second, with a far-post header from a corner. Into the second half, and Logica, still defending for the most part scored a third. A long punt looked easy to deal with for defender and goalkeeper and chased more out of habit than hope. The goalkeeper came charging out, ignoring the calls of the defender, and both arrived at the ball at the same time. The resultant collision left both Holland Park players sprawled on the ground, and the captain to tap into an empty net.

With twenty minutes left surely Logica would not let a two-goal lead slip? But as they visibly tired, Holland Park sensed a chance and stepped up a gear. Logica were now penned in their own penalty area and finally something had to give. A ball over 's head left a Park player with just the keeper to beat. Soon an equaliser, as could only parry a strong shot.

So to extra-time, and surely Holland Park looked favourites. Indeed, two corners in the first part of extra time saw two free headers and two goals for the home side. Arguments began in the Logica defence, but somehow no more goals were conceded before the break. Incredibly, a final rally saw Logica pull a goal back. A long kick by sailed over the Holland Park defence and latched onto it first bounce and smashed a volley over the Park keeper for his thirtieth goal of the season. A direct goal in a Wimbledon stylee. One last effort saw Logica throw players forward in a last attempt at an equaliser, but yet again this only resulted in a goal for the opposition, and the game, the season and Logica's hopes of another double, were over.
