A farcical start to the day saw both teams arrive at the Hendon ground, only to find one set of goalposts missing, due to vandalism it later transpired. The two teams along with supporters had to transfer to a nearby pitch which did contain two sets of goalposts, before the game could finally commence. One cynical wag was heard en-route voicing the opinion that even if the game had been played at the original venue and Hampstead had defended the end with no goal, that Logica would still have won comfortably.

The Logica keeper was, however, with few exceptions, an onlooker as play concentrated in the SDA half. The only save he made all game was from his own full-back, , who made an otherwise sound debut in 's number two shirt. A low shot was going well wide when instinctively stuck out a leg and diverted the ball goal- wards. A stranded was initially rooted to the spot, but sprang suddenly into life and just managed to scramble the ball away before it crossed the line.

This apart all the other action usually ended with a Logica goal. scored a first-half hat-trick showing good striker's instincts from generous passes first by and then by . Then an excellent solo effort gave the Jades a 3-0 advantage at half-time. In between times, had fluffed two opportunities which had fallen to his head.

The second half continued much as the first, but even so, it was some twenty five minutes before a fourth goal arrived. This, however, paved the way for a six-goal deluge. A great run by finished with a short ball slipped to , who hit the ball first-time from twenty yards, and it flew like a bullet into the top left-hand corner as a bemused keeper could only watch. Perfect finishing! then scored a well-earned goal, before who else but finished off the rout with a traditional lob, having first pushed out of the way in true Snatcherite fashion!
