Here are a just a few of the great Logica matches of this millenium. We're sure that you have your own personal favourites.
12.02.89 Logica 5-4 Old Coffee House
Another legendary comeback in this virtual Championship decider at Logica's Surrey Quays Stadium. Logica took an early 2-0 lead through a Sidaway penalty and an Abbott goal. In those days however, Logica used to collapse before rather than after half-time, and four goals in 15 minutes saw us 4-2 down at the break with, Champthe ionship Trophy slipping out of our grasp. But the beauty of a first-half collapse is that there is always time to come back, and three second half Abbott goals clinched a famous 5-4 victory, and Logica went on to win the League and Cup double.
07.05.89 Sarkpoint 1-2 Logica
Logica completed the only double in their history by vanquishing arch enemies Sarkpoint 2-1 at the hallowed Hurlingham Stadium in Putney. Mitchell Grassie, on a rare excursion off the treatment table, gave Logica a first half lead on a blisteringly hot day. But Sarkpoint never gave up and equalised after the break, before Pete Hajitoffi produced a Banks-Mexico-1970 style save to take the game into extra time. Whereupon up dribbled Woolhouse, around about seven defenders, before shooting low past the keeper to win Logica the Arthur Dann Memorial Shield. This was all so long ago, that the pubs were shut on Sunday afternoons, and we had to celebrate in a local coffee shop.
14.10.90 Hampstead SDA 0-9 Logica
A match notable for a number of reasons, not least the fact that on arrival at the original venue it was discovered that one pair of goalposts had been stolen overnight. This was not the explanation for such a one-sided scoreline (we moved to another venue), this was rather hotshot Keith Sidaway who netted six goals to set a record not equalled until this season. And someone called Ian Clarke made his debut in this game also.
12.01.92 Logica 13-2 Athletico Steeles
Logica's record victory as far as the surviving history books show was notched in this first round cup tie. Both Abbott and Dave Day scored a hat-trick, with Kevin Spence, Paul Fitzgerald and Simon Woolhouse notching two apiece. Big John Watson even got his name on the score sheet, although characteristically, the press of the time were critical of a defence that still managed to concede two goals.
18.10.92 Logica 7-1 Bajau
A game that has gone down in history as the only Logica match ever that has been filmed. Video tapes of this famous victory remain locked in a vault somewhere in East London, possibly due to the fact that Dave Richmond was the commentator on the gantry that day. Unsurprisingly Keith Sidaway decided to turn it on for the cameras at Battersea Park, scoring five goals in a sensational individual performance. Dave day and Simon Woolhouse scored the other two goals.
06.05.95 VVOR 2-2 Logica
The Final of the "If Selected..." Prestigious International Challenge Trophy in Rotterdam, where Logica bounced back from 2-0 down to draw level with an Abbott penalty and a rare European goal from Sidaway. Logica then produced five of the best penalties you're ever likely to see anywhere, before Barry Millar heroically saved the last Dutch penalty to claim the trophy.
14.01.96 Logica 6-2 Brentford Town
Logica finally overcame their Brentford Town hoodoo with a first ever victory against the Boston Manor side, and some victory as well. Playing the traditional Logica way, Spence notched an emphatic hat-trck, Steve Lambert picked up a brace bursting through from midfield, and even Abbott managed to get his name on the score-sheet.
01.12.96 Gardeners Arms 3-4 Logica
The famous Roy of the Rovers match with Logica trailing 3-0 with just 10 minutes left. At this point Supremo Clarke makes an inspired tactical switch, and Logica dramatically score four goals in the last ten ninutes, with Spence netting two and Abbott and Jeff Hatton one a-piece. If they'd put the story of this match in a comic book, nobody would have believed them...
26.09.99 Wandsworth Town 3-6 Logica
One of the greatest individual goal-scoring performances in a Logica shirt as Nigel Hoyland nets all six Logica goals in a clinical display.
