Despite our defeat a fortnight ago, Logica FC have retained a respectable fifth position in the table. This Sunday we face league leaders Pump House FC who are riding high with twelve points from five games. Before we get too nervous however, it should be noted that in their last two games, Pump House have been beaten 2-1 at home by Townmead (whom we beat 4-0), and were awarded a walkover against St Augustines.
Elsewhere Arab Boys are certainly putting in some consistent performances. After losing their opening game 3-11, they have improved slightly as they've only been beaten by 1-8 (Pump House three weeks ago) and 2-8 (Sportobello). Also of interest is Fulhamholics somewhat poor start to the season. Two weeks into October and they have only had one fixture so far, which they failed to show for and the points were awarded to Archers. As a result, out conquerors of two weeks ago maintain the only 100% record.
Groom has responded to this weekend's big game by picking a combatative squad. The Supremo welcomes back Clarke and Reevaldo who will hopefully provide the threat down the flanks missing in our last game. Brown keeps his place, and there are debuts for both Mike Marsh and Martin Aggrey. Both Brown and captain Gautam will be looking to maintain their goal-a-game records.
Perhaps the most surprising move is the recall of disgraced legend Keith Sidaway. The experienced Geordie will be aiming to please the new Supremo after a bad start to the season in which he failed to appear for the first match and then dispatched a diatribe questioning the committee's selection policy. With Abbott also named in the squad, we can only hope that Logica aren't awarded a penalty this Sunday. The squad announced today is thus as follows:
