Despite being a tad busy with other things, we thought it was worth taking a few moments out to congratulate the club on their unbeaten start to the season - officially the best since records began! Even the record breaking 1989/90 season (the first for new Supremo Mark Abbott) which ended with a league and cup double, did not begin with three straight victories. The second game that momentous season was drawn, although the team did not lose a game until April. So that's something to aim for, although of course we're taking each game as it comes.

Sunday's 2-2 draw against Everyman will hopefully serve to keep everyone's feet on the ground, although even then the team showed great character to battle to the end and score a late equaliser despite not really firing on all cylinders. Shades of the other LFC perhaps.

This somewhat impressive start has brought with it a new set of problems for the Supremo, with the world and his dog wanting a sniff of the unusual smell of success. Twenty five or more players have made themselves available each week, from which only fourteen can be named in the squad. In such a situation, it is very difficult to keep everyone happy, with players understandably disappointed at not getting picked or being stuck on the bench. Groom has opted for the old cliche of sticking with a winning side. If you and the team are playing well, then you keep your place on merit. The first test of this principle came with the return from a weekend off for club captain Paul Mainwaring. But Marsh kept his place at left-back, and rewarded the gaffer's faith with an outstanding display in which he set up both goals.

All this leaves Logica still sitting pretty in second place in the latest league table. However, just as we're getting into our stride the Fixtures Computer has thrown a bit of a spanner in the works. With no game scheduled this Sunday, the following week's match against Spencers was then postponed with the oppo playing in the London AFA Cup that day. Attempts to rearrange a fixture failed, leaving three weeks until our next match (a first round cup-tie) and (with no game the next week either) five until our next league game. The Supremo does however hope to arrange some friendlies in the meanwhile to keep the momentum going, and also to give other players the chance to impress. Watch this space for details.
