Last week's snow had the under-soil heating at many stadia the length and breadth of south-west London turned on for the first time this season. But once the snow and ice had melted, the ill-timed torrential rain that followed only combined to waterlog many pitches, and there were few games that survived as a result.

Only one Division Two fixture was played yesterday, and that saw Olympia reinforce their promotion credentials with a narrow 2-1 win over Logica-victims Spectraprint at the Richardson Evans Don-o-Drome. Olympia now find themselves third in the table, on the same number of points as West Ten having played just a game more. This is a situation that may surprise some Logica fans comparing Olympia's unconvincing 3-2 opening-day win over their heroes, to the 21 goals West Ten have swept past Logica in just two league games.

This Sunday sees a full Division Two league programme, weather permitting, and attention will be mainly focused on the foot of the table. As we seek revenge against FC Broadway for our recent 6-1 defeat that many critics thought was a tad harsh, our two closest rivals in this relegation dog-fight, Inter Wandsworth and Everyman, come face-to-face in the proverbial six-pointer. We may hope it turns out to be a two-pointer, and will be seeking maximum returns ourselves in the following two weeks when we welcome both sides to the Stade d'Ilea. And with a winnable home fixture against the afore-mentioned Olympia on the last Sunday of the month, one thing is for sure: February will be the crucial month in deciding whether Logica are able to salvage something from a so-far 'disappointing' season.
