Despite being 2-0 down at the interval, Logica staged a second half fight-back which could easily have salvaged a point. Jon Clarke had been at the heart of Logica's few convincing attacks in the first half, and continued to impress in the second. His calm and cultured passing from the middle of the park did most to ruffle the Santos back-line, and it was the Scotsman who scored Logica's goal to make it 2-1. An intelligent diagonal run was rewarded with a visionary pass from Reevaldo, and Clarke kept his cool to slot home precisely.

It was far from being a one-man show, and the footballing electorate nominated a number of other good performers. Mike Marsh was a close challenger to Clarke, and justifiably so with an admirable display of the defensive arts after coming on as a first half substitute. Jeff Hatton is becoming a regular contender in the MoM Poll, a fact that accurately reflects his consistently solid displays at the heart of the Logica back four. Mercer Field was also well worth nearly ten per cent of the votes cast for some blistering wing play, and Phill Hatton registered a similar share of the poll for some no-nonsense clearances.
