It was a disappointing end to a creditable season as a bare XI were comprehensively beaten by Prince of Wales. Despite the scoreline it was a keeper who once again who impressed, with Hoyzone notching his second Mom Award in three games. "He made some excellent saves, and without him the margin of defeat would have been significantly worse," opined real Supremo Simon Groom.
Novice international Supremo Jez Brown was trying his hand at this management malarkey for the first time, with a view to masterminding Pup global domination in Prague. The good Doctor can not have failed to be impressed with his striker-turned-keeper, and now has a conundrum with both Hoyzone and Lee Pendleton in his World Cup squad.
Brown was not exactly spoiled for tactical options with just eleven players, but at least his first choice defence continued to look reasonably impressive under the circumstances. The centre back pair of Manlio Trovato and Jeff Hatton both received a share of the votes, and Craig Taylor again received some recognition for giving 110% as the fulcrum in an experimental 4-3-3 formation. And even Brown received a vote. We assume out of sympathy.
