After just two appearances for the club, Gurch Nat is already impressing colleagues and supporters alike to the extent that he has run away with this week's Man of the Match Award. Both games have seen him provide a potent attacking force down the left flank, a dangerous combination of skilful dribbling and pace quickly reducing defenders to desperate and illegal means as the only way of stopping him. But the fact that he has simultaneously shown a tenacious appetite for his defensive duties, regularly tracking down opponents to win the ball back, will please the Supremo just as much.
Craig Taylor impressed over a quarter of the electorate, after an industrious central midfield performance was crowned with both an assist and an exquisite finish for Logica's second goal. And an impressive defensive showing against an excellent attacking side was reflected in votes for both Jeff Hatton and debutante keeper Rob Sapwell in joint third spot. Indeed, Sapwell showed himself to a very able glove-man and appeared to be heading for first-time MoM glory until one honest punter owned up to voting for him three times by mistake, just as the returning officer was about to call for a recount.
