It was a frustrating game in that Logica didn't play particularly badly, but at the same time weren't able to pose a consistent threat to the Red Star goal. There was little to choose between most of the home players on view, but Phill Hatton and Pete Chapman did as much as anyone to keep Logica in the hunt right up to the final whistle.
Hatton was at his no-nonsense best, regularly breaking up the neat Croydon approach play down the left, and both players were regularly called upon to make last ditch tackles in the latter stages as Logica pushed numbers forward in search of an equaliser, leaving themselves somewhat outnumbered at the back. Both defenders were also dominant in the air, which was vital given the aerial bombardment launched from the boot of the big-kicking Red Star keeper.
Logica's own number one also polled over a quarter of the votes for pulling off a couple of brilliant saves despite not having that much to do during the ninety minutes as a whole.
