An ultimately emphatic win for Logica that was in danger of being devalued by the fact that the opposition began with just 8 men. But it was not until the rest of their team turned up that Logica blazed four goals in a lethal fifteen minute spell, and their second half response when Portman threatened to fight their way back into the match should not be under-estimated.
The largest crowd of the season so far at the Stade were aided at the MoM Ballot Box this week by some video evidence. It was noticeable that the narrow winner Reevaldo picked up the majority of his votes after the highlights package became available, showing the elaborate hole merchant repeatedly cutting a swathe through the opposition defence in sepia-tinged slow motion before putting the ball on a plate for a well placed colleague. Its not easy to leave a trail of floundering defenders in your wake at that speed.
It was however a close run thing as three other players ran Reevaldo to the wire. Dav Gautam earned plenty of plaudits despite not being caught on camera nearly as much as his screen-hogging central midfield partner in creativity, whilst Pete Chapman also impressed, his opening goal perhaps providing some mitigation for his regularly being found absent without leave from his defensive post. And Nick Chetty may only have joined the fray just before half time, but some dogged right-sided defensive action as Logica hung on at the start of the second half was also recognised by a knowledgeable electorate. Indeed, the quality of the all-round team-effort was underlined by votes being counted for three other players as well, goal-scrorers Hoyzone, Abbott and Melville.
