Accepting that it was a very hot afternoon, the pitch was bumpy, and the opposition were old rivals Sarkpoint, it is still difficult to understand how Logica could let a first half lead, gained through a perfectly placed shot by , almost slip away through an uncharacteristic second half collapse. It was only the magnificent in goal, with one stop reminiscent of that Banks save from Pele at Mexico70, which kept Logica in the game after Sarkpoint had equalised.

Extra time, however, saw a revival of spirit which was a joy to watch. Relentless pressure finally paid off when twisted past and through the entire Sarkpoint defence before firing home a goal worthy of winning any Cup Final.

Sadly, given that the second leg of an unpredented Double was scheduled for the following Thursday when Dynamo Landor visited the Oval in Logica's hopefully-Championship-clinching final game of the season, the players celebrated conservatively with a cup of coffee at a nearby cafe.
