Another disappointingly low turnout saw Logica field less players than your average Wimbledon home attendance. Or could this have been construed as tactical brilliance by that shrewd strategist ? Surely, having used thirty players already this season, Logica could muster more than nine players for this potential goal avalanche? Unfortunately not.
There's not really a great deal to say about this game. Iveys took the lead with a thunderous volley after only ten minutes. The nine of Logica then so dominated the game that the fact that they only scored two goals was criminal. returned after being rested in another exotic location (a la Lineker) to snatch both goals.
The most memorable thing about the game was the referee. A pint sized mixture of unjustified over-confidence and complete incompetence. Claiming to have qualified to Third Division standard, he will go down in history as the only referee ever to penalise for being offside when he wasn't! He then proceeded to miss the 511 other occasions when the Geordie striker was in fact comfortably offside.
Although this report gives the impression of an easy victory, it should be noted that to make a victory look so comfortable with only nine men is a superb achievement. So the injured who bravely volunteered to go in goal, the 'back-three' of , and ; the skillful midfield of , and ; and the forward pairing of and , all deserve a mention for this historic performance.
