A howling gale found Hatton's second game in charge somewhat less stressful. The headbangers were back, showing off their scars and bragging about the thousands of stitches they had endured and the nurses who had been bowled over by their football trivia knowledge. Banging their heads together seems to have done the trick, for both Fleming and Johnson turned in excellent performances, with the Teessider in particular beginning to look commanding in his 'new' position of centre-half.
Logica never looked in any real danger against average opponents, but as usual contrived to keep everyone on their seats until near the end. Midway through the first half a great run and cross by Gildea lead to Abbott firing home, and early in the second Abbott put Lambert clear to give the home side a two goal cushion. Dark Star were allowed to pull one back, and the traditional wobbles ensued, before an exact replica of the previous goal gave Lambert his second of the game and Logica some breathing space.
Logica's fifth win of the season was only marred by a serious injury to rising star Gildea, who twisted his knee ligaments in an innocuous looking first half challenge, and now seems destined to miss the rest of the season.
