Never mind the PR line on sexy football being plugged by the latest in a long line of failed Geordie Messiah's, the Logica boys are doing it on the field, not just talking about it.

This Sunday saw Logica's first game of the season, away against Oakwood FC. And they turned on the style in producing an emphatic 6-2 stuffing at the Asda Stadium. Kevin "Owen" Spence scored a hat-trick, carrying on where he left off last season, and Jon Clarke weighed in with a brace (one a beautifully flighted free-kick a la Beckham). Another fine goal came from "Dave Richmond" (for it was not really he). We should have had quite a few more goals, and the two we conceded were a penalty and a very contentious off-side goal. Every one played a blinder, especially given the lack of match-fitness (sic) and the blistering heat.

We were slightly aided by an appallingly pernickity referee, who sent off their half-time substitute before he had even joined the field of play (altho we were already 3-1 up by then). And not just a straight red-card, he managed to acquire two yellow cards in achieveing his dismissal. Food for thought, Johninho, I'm sure....

So a good start to the season. There were plenty of "regular" players missing, but all who played were very impressive and competition for places will surely be tight. Roll-on next Sunday (Lynx of course).
