Whilst Logica were producing their best performance of the season to upstage Broadway, their two closest relegation rivals were doing battle in a proverbial six-pointer. And it was Inter Wandsworth who emerged with three valuable points, easing their drop fears courtesy of a convincing 5-2 victory over Everyman.

As has been well-documented on these pages recently, Logica face both these sides on the next two Sundays in fixtures that provide a potential escape route from what has up until now seemed like certain relegation. They face Inter first, for whom Sunday's win provides a more comfortable cushion above the bottom pair in Divsion Two. But whilst Inter will doubtless be keen to increase this gap, Logica fans will be hoping that their heroes can reproduce Sunday's form which found them disappointed not to take all three points off Broadway. It has all the ingredients of a great match, although there was some mildly disappointiung news late last night when the game was switched from Logica's home at the Stade d'Ilea to the Riverside Lands Stadium.

Logica's subsequent opponents Everyman thus continued their bad run of form that leaves them with just that solitary 2-1 victory over Logica back in September. The Earlsfield outfit however may be hopeful of an imminent gift from the Gods. They are due to face Rapid Decline this Sunday, whose match last Sunday was awarded to West Ten in advance. This suggests Rapid are suspended for some reason, and if that situation were to continue up until this weekend, would mean that Everyman would be handed three free points.

But the Supremo is keen his players should not be distracted by events that they have no control over, rather staying focused on the job in hand. "Bad as our position appears on paper, I still believe our destiny is in our own hands," insists the Norfolk chief. Logica fans will be as relieved as Blackadder to learn that Groom has a cunning plan. "I have a master-plan!" he confirmed confidently at this morning's upbeat press conference.

"I am targetting four victories from the six games against Inter, Everyman, Bragança and Galicia, all of which I believe we are capable of winning based on Sunday's showing. That would give us sixteen points which may be good enough to convince the Sportmans League Mandarins that we're good enough to stay up, regardless of our final position."

"I think this is do-able," stated the Supremo sincerely in response to a cacophony of webloid advice to "take each game as it comes." Anything from Logica's other three fixtures against Olympia, Wanderers (the postponed match having now been rescheduled for 14th March), and Supercala would be a bonus. "I said that anything from last Sunday's match at Broadway would be a bonus, so who knows?!?" added Groom mischievously.

And Logica's manager may well be right to target Galicia and Bragança in his sights, as poor form is in danger of dragging both sides into the relegation dog-fight. Bragança's 2-2 draw with Olympia last Sunday means that last season's Mae d'Agua have not won in their last six games, a run that has seen them drop to 8th spot in the table. Meanwhile, Deportivo's erratic form finds them one place lower with just 13 points, and Sunday's 5-2 defeat at the hands of Spectraprint will not have done their confidence much good.

But at the end of the day, Logica's task is simple. They need to deliver on the pitch, and reproducing last Sunday's effort, commitment and application on a weekly basis would go a long way to achieving the gaffer's targets. Sunday's huge match against Inter will give a fairly good indication as to whether Groom's Masterplan is achievable.
