PEN PICTURE

The "If Selected..." View: Marsh could be forgiven for wondering what he had let himself in for as Logica took one hell of a Pumping on his debut, and quite understandably the youngster did not return for more until the back end of the same season. But with impressive international showings for the Nippers in both the Manchester and Amsterdam World Cups, the Supremo was keen to tempt him into the Sunday morning fray. And once tempted, the man they call Lurch (amongst other things) fulfilled that promise as he established his place in the side with a string of fine performances during the 2001/02 season that also saw him "promoted" into the Pups squad for the 2002 World Cup. An intelligent defender, Marsh also boasts a dexterous left peg and some deceptive pace that has seen him fit comfortably and effectively into the left midfield slot when needed. However, the majority of his games have been played at left-back, and that was where he made himself first choice at the start of the following season, keeping Captain Mainwaring out of the side, and playing an important part in Logica's impressive unbeaten start to the season. But having nailed down his place, he promptly buggered off to Australia for a year, and only returned to the fold midway through the 2003-04 season to begin the battle to get his place back once more.

EXPERIENCE

Logica FC Debut: 10th October 2000: Logica 0-10 Pump House. The reporter of the day noted: "It was a similar baptism of fire for debutante Mike Marsh at centre half, but he showed in the Logica World Cup that he is not a bad player, even if generally a little hungover first thing in the morning."
