An unbeaten start to the new season and a three-way battle for the first Man of the Match Award which was eventually shared by debutante Ross Melville and keeper Rob Sapwell. After impressing in pre-season training, Melville showed no first-day nerves as he claimed his first goal for the club inside a quarter of an hour. In the centre of the park he showed good tenacity in the tackle allied with some neat and sharp passing. His tireless running saw him regualrly get forward to both support the attack and get into good goalscoring positions himself and with a little luck he might have had a hat-trick.

Meanwhile Sapwell took up where he left off last season with a heroic performance between the sticks. Had it not been for a series of brave one-on-one saves, Brixton would have been out of sight well before Logica stirred themselves for a second half revival. He also produced a spactacular full-length tip around the post of a shot that this reporter thought was a certain goal. Suranga Fernando also continued his excellent form from both last season and the World Cup, and was just pipped at the MoM post as he again produced a display of quality passing and strong defending. He also showed some aerial threat that caused Brixton problems all morning.
