A frustrating opening to the season, with many players disappointed that Logica didn't take all three points, let alone one. Having dominated the game for long spells, it was simply a question of not taking some of the many chances created, although the woodwork was rattled on three occasions. It was no coincidence that Logica had their best spell in the opening half an hour whilst Fernando was on the field. His pace, vision and aerial dominance on the left had Lansdown in all sorts of trouble, and he had already set the cross bar twanging before he opening the scoring with a towering far post header from a corner. It was thus a big blow for Logica and a boost for Lansdown when he limped off with a calf injury.
Melville had provided a genuine twin-pronged assault down the other flank, and he it was who switched to the left flank on Fernando's departure to further torment the unfortunate Lansdown right-back. Most of Logica's threatening moments continued to be created down that wing, and it was Melville's free-kick that hit the bar with the last kick of the game. Elsewhere, the other two starting midfielders Buck and Reevaldo also picked up votes, giving a clear indication of which department was at the hub of Logica's dominance.
