The competitive showing by Logica players in last Sunday's match was carried over into the polling booth this week as a neck-and-neck Man of the Match vote went right down to the wire. The team, it seems, are finally back up to speed after an extended winter break was followed by two disappointing performances against Portman and Charing. But the players showed excellent attitude and commitment against the Alliance, were well worth a point, and could even have nicked all three with a great chance at the death.

The performance was rewarded with a record turn-out at the polls, where no less than 107.1% of the eligible electorate casted votes. With exit polls showing all the leading candidates in the lead at various times during the week, it was Scaramanga who just edged past the post first as the final votes were counted at midnight on Thursday. An excellent choice by the knowledgable footballing public, we think, for Fernando had once again shown himself a natural centre half, dominant in the air, and using a shrewd reading of the game coupled with no little bravery to intercept and mop up a high percentage of the Allied attacks.

Elsewhere the two debutantes also impressed the electorate. Neil Campbell showed a desire to get in amongst the opposition from the off, but also some fine composure on the ball and an eye for a neat pass as he quickly formed a good combination with Gautam. Jamie Heath worked just as hard up front, making endless runs to try and provide options, as well as showing a great touch on the floor for a big man. Bucky gained some deserved recognition for another combative midfield display, whilst Presto also pushed the right buttons for some voters.
