A second second half collapse left Logica bottom of the table having conceded an impressive tally of 15 goals. It was always going to take a while for the players to get the hang of this new sophisticated football malarkey that the new Supremi are weaning us on, and players and supporters should be patient. There were enough signs of quality play again to indicate that the team will get there in the end.
Further evidence that certain aspects of our game are improving came in the shape of three Logica goals, more than the team managed to score in all bar two of its matches last season. Ross Melville scored two of these, both with excellent finishes, and the Supremi's perceptive decision to move the midfielder into a striking role is paying dividends early doors. As well as his goals, Melville constantly stretched the Welham defence with his non-stop runs, and was also denied another goal only by a desperate save with the score at 2-3.
The majority of the remaining MoM votes this week were shared between Dav Gautam, peddling his usual quality fare in the middle of the park, and Suranga Fernando, looking yet again every inch the natural centre half despite the team's second half defensive implosion.
