Logica, fielding weakened team due to numerous injuries and lack of enthusiasm promised to spring a surprise in the first half of this game, but caved in in the second half to give Venice ample revenge for their opening day of the season reverse. The Jades began in gritty fashion and carved a number of half-chances for and . It was the latter, playing in an unaccustomed forward role, who boldly broke the deadlock from the penalty spot. But a couple of defensive mistakes gave Venice the opportunity to get back into the game, and they went in at half-time 2-1 up.
Once again Logica adopted their "we don't believe we can win" attitude, and were accordingly soundly thrashed. again turned in an effective and determined display, but was given little support. Increasingly forced to take the entire Venice defence on single-handedly, he was the only one to create chances. Indeed it was another of these brilliant runs which resulted in a square ball to who slotted home unchallenged for Logica's second.
Unfortunately by this time Venice had taken their total to five, making it little more than a consolation. Venice were full of confidence now and their short, sharp passing left Logica without possession for minutes at a time. As confidence became arrogance they missed a fair few easy chances but still added two more to make the final score 7-2.
