Logica's back-to-back victories against bottom club Invictus felt like cashing in a guaranteed cheque, and the six points gratefully received put some breathing space between us and the relegation zone. But having subsequently fallen to two disappointing defeats against Bald Eagles and Fulham, this breathing space is in danger of becoming a rather breathless pant.

Once again the chasing pack have taken advantage, and although we are just about holding on to eighth spot, those below us are within touching distance once more. Welham in particular have suddenly come back into form, beating Notting Hill and South West Dragons on the last two Sundays to sit just a point behind us. Spectra, a further point behind, also beat the latter, although they haven't played a game for the last fortnight. Just as it looked like the Dragons might be about to clinch the second automatic relegation spot, they went and claimed an impressive 3-3 draw with leaders Broadway.

It is usually about this time of the season that the Supremo unveils his all-seeing strategy for the season's climax, and in recent weeks he must have been thinking long and hard about a 'Mediocrity Roadmap' that would direct us to mid-table safety. Logica potentially have six matches left, but despite the back-tracking on double-headers by the mandarins down at Sportmans League HQ, it would be surprising if we play all of those. Our scheduled matches against Kew Green this Sunday, Atlas Lions and the Dragons - like most fixtures in this division - are all eminently winnable, but it is surely the latter pair of games that Groom will be focusing on.

We are level on points with the Lions, and narrowly beat them 3-2 back in October. Like many teams in this division, they were quite a threat going forward but poor at the back (Logica seem to be the exception on both counts), and the gaffer must surely be targetting a win at the Stade on 9th April. South West Dragons meanwhile have just four games left whilst trailing us by by six points. A victory for Logica on St George's Day would surely kill off the Dragons given their inferior goal difference. Welham have just three games left but also have to play the Lions and the Dragons. Spectra hypothetically have seven games left, although they are all tough games and don't include any against the bottom five.

Logica's unscheduled fixtures are tough ones against Notting Hill, Bald Eagles and Fulham. If we are to play any of these, the most likely is against the Eagles who are still battling neck and neck with Broadway for the title. The title could well have been decided in March when the top two faced each other twice. The Championship Trophy seemed to have taken a decisive turn towards Broadway when they beat the Eagles 2-0 at the start of the month, but that advantage was pretty much nullified by the former's afore-mentioned draw with the Dragons whilst the Eagles were beating us 4-0. Last Sunday's return match between the two sides resulted in an undecisive 1-1 draw to leave things pretty much as they were: if the Eagles win their game in hand they are just a point behind Broadway.
