After last week's double headed horror show, Logica restored some pride against London Radnor and hinted that they might just be getting to grips with the two-match format. They bounced back with a single goal victory that was scant reward for their dominance, and nobody exemplified the team's persistence in the face of adversity more than the goal scorer, Paul 'Super Noobles' Banoub.

Logica grabbed the initiative early doors and had Radnor on the back foot from the off. Early pressure found Reevaldo screwing a shot wide after some penalty box pin-ball, and soon Lambert was latching onto a long Trovato free-kick to fire a blistering volley that the Radnor keeper did extremely well to deflect wide. Reevaldo's vision and perfectly timed pass soon sent Banoub clear in the box, but his low shot was blocked by the keeper's feet. One sensed that the indomitable striker was merely calibrating those boots again.

In the first twenty minutes, Radnor hardly set foot in Logica's half, with only a weak lob providing any catching practice for stand-in keeper Hoyland. Meanwhile the chances continued to come and go at the other end. Another Trovato free kick caused problems, but Reevaldo's header was blocked. The Hackney Houdini was once again at the creative hub when a neat one-two with Buck by the corner flag, enabled him to dance past a defender before firing in a low cross that a stretching Gautam could only divert over the bar.

Suddenly Radnor had a spell that threatened to punish Logica's profligacy. Their left winger boasted great pace and strength, and Groom had his work cut out keeping him at bay. One powerful burst saw the two players at full speed wrestling for the upper hand. As the Radnor man finally broke clear and bore down on Hoyland, the referee luckily blew for a foul by the Logica Supremo, and the advantage was lost. For five minutes, Radnor applied some concerted pressure on the Logica rearguard, but Trovato in particular stood firm with a number strong and well-timed challenges to avert the danger.

In their fragile state, Logica might have buckled at this point, but instead they responded and moved up a gear. Gautam reasserted his midfield superiority, and some neat interplay with Clarke once again released Noobie. The striker elegantly rounded the keeper, but then found his attempt to slide home blocked. You just knew that a goal would be coming along any minute now.

Clarke very nearly scored the goal of the millennium when a bold volley from near the corner flag had a startled Radnor keeper flapping desperately, and the same player's low cross minutes later caused more mayhem, with a panicked scythe struck a Radnor arm. Noobie had the ball in his grasp almost before the referee had pointed to the spot, but tragically his low spot-kick struck the base of the post and bounced away with the keeper diving the wrong way.

But even some unnecessary jibes from the Radnor players could not distract Noobles from his mission. Unperturbed, he was soon selflessly sending his strike partner away with a finely weighted pass. Lambert brilliantly beat the last defender, and was unlucky to see his skimming drive fly just the wrong side of the far post.

After the referee had been informed of the proper duration of these double header games, a belated half time whistle saw the Logica players demanding more of the same. And that is exactly what they got. Just three minutes after the restart, Noobie was once again in the thick of the action, bravely blocking an attempted clearance. Lambert was quick to seize on the bouncing ball, poking it past the last man and sprinting clear only to have his shot blocked by the out-rushing keeper. As the ball ran loose, who had followed up with the predatory instinct of the innate striker who can sniff a goal at twenty yards? None other than Banoub, of course, whose unshakable confidence was rewarded as he rammed the ball home from eighteen yards past two helpless defenders [1-0].

Never shy to let opponents know just how good he is, Noobie shunned the traditional goal celebration and instead went in search of the perpetrator of those penalty-miss jibes in an attempt to ram something else home. Perhaps, the Football Gods took umbrage at such behaviour, for they were soon roused from their slumber and having a little fun at the striker's expense. Gautam was again at the heart of the incisive build-up, slipping a ball into the path of Lambert, who stretched to prod the ball past a lunging keeper. Noobie was again in the right place at the right time, but with the goal at his mercy, he rolled his shot against the foot of the post.

Logica now showed some maturity in closing the game down. Whilst not creating nearly as many chances as in the first half, they concentrated on controlling the play, and refused to be drawn by Radnor's sometimes provocative attitude exemplified by a malicious hack as keeper Hoyland collected a loose ball. The introduction of Taylor and his long throw took Radnor by surprise, and his first launch straight into the six yard box found Reevaldo ghosting in unmarked only to guide his header wide of the target.

It did not matter, as there was only one further slight scare which came with seconds left, Hoyland having to be both brave and alert to pounce on a low cross and clutch it tight with attackers closing. Shortly afterwards Logica were celebrating three points, and the ever-persistent Banoub deservedly permitted himself a few punches in the air to celebrate his match-winning strike. Now it was time to see if they could hit Radnor for six points.
